Hitchin Girls’ School is based in Hertfordshire and has circa 160 students. They promote a whole school approach and are an eco school.

Hitchin Girls’ school is a forward thinking school looking to maximise a revenue stream via a robust fully managed lettings services tender. All schools are facing incredibly tight budgets at present and maximising lettings revenue is a great way to add revenue and promote the school at the same time!

The school were concerned as typically lettings contracts are very loosely worded and difficult to manage. Thankfully RIVA have both a robust lettings specification and a robust bespoke lettings contract document that we include in all of our lettings tenders, bringing both clarity and protection to our schools that enter these contracts.

We captured the finer details of the school’s facilities and spaces and designed the specification strategically so as to capture what is important to the school, along side revenue generation.

The school were aware of our expertise within contract catering and reached out to us when they were struggling to agree the nest year’s budget with their incumbent catering provider.

RIVA reviewed the original agreement, the pervious year’s budget versus actual position, and the new proposed budget.

Having immersed ourselves in the detail, we also accounted for external factors, the mosy important being inflation and the unaccounted for national insurance increase.

The sales budget was challenged and tasking was suggested for the coming year, where costs were clearly split out so as to identify those within and without the contractor’s control.

The outcome

The school was able to secure a position with their incumbent that was both fair and realistic whilst retaining the emphasis on a great, nutritious, varied offer that is popular and therefore drives uptake from the students of the school.
