We saw a great opportunity to benefit our school - and we took it!
At RIVA we wanted to overhaul our website with a focus on reflecting our values and mission, to deliver: ‘Procurement with Purpose’
As all of our clients are schools or trusts, we were also very keen to reflect our passion for the education sector and our focus not just on price but on true value for our clients and their students.
We decided to do a photo shoot at a school to emphasise our focus and message across our website and we approached a happy client who was delighted to grant us permission to use their school and a selection of students with permission. We were delighted, and very grateful for the opportunity!
However, we very quickly we realised that the opportunity we had here was not only for RIVA, but for the students at the school who could join our day to use this as a learning opportunity! A selection of business studies, marketing and photography students were selected and were delighted for this unique opportunity to participate in a live business development day!
The photo-shoot day
We spent the whole day with the school and our set of authorised students. Some were GCSE students with an interest in business, some were 6th formers studying marketing or photography. We had a really fun, educational day (and thankfully, the sun was shining, which helped!)
Our photographer Lee and Marketing specialist Jill were fantastic on the day, not only in directing us and capturing some fantastic photos, but in including the students, explaining what we were doing and why, at every step.
A session was held with the 6th formers covering how to initially engage with a ‘client’ and what questions to ask to draw out their specific marketing requirements – using RIVA as a real life case study. What is our service offer, who is our client, what is our philosophy and how can this be translated into a story for our website via photographs, to project our message and mission?
The students were keen and engaged and had not only a really fun day – but learnt something new too, bringing their studies to life! A huge thank you from RIVA to this school, to it’s staff who also got involved (with many laughs along the way!) and of course to the amazing students who gave their valuable school time up for the day, for us. A very memorable day!
Giving back wherever we can
At RIVA we really do try and give as much to our schools, typically via deploying our procurement expertise to ultimately improve their support services, ease their budgets and enhance the overall student experience at school.
However, this special day was different and we were delighted to transform our photo shoot requirement into a day that gave something back to the school and it’s students, at the same time.
A great experience, I don’t think we have ever smiled so much in one working day!
